AI help for students

AI is computer software that can make suggestions or give feedback. It can get things wrong. If your activity uses AI, follow these steps.

Ask an adult first

Use the activity your teacher or parent has chosen. Ask them before using another AI tool. Follow the instructions for the activity.

Keep private information private

Leave out your full name, address, phone number, passwords and private details about yourself or other people. Ask an adult if you are unsure what to share.

Check the answer

AI can make mistakes. Compare its suggestions with what you have learned. Ask your teacher or parent to explain anything confusing.

Look for unfair ideas

Tell an adult if a suggestion treats someone unfairly or makes an assumption about their language, culture or abilities. People learn in different ways.

Be kind and honest

Use AI to help you learn. Follow your school’s rules about your own work. Use other people’s words, pictures and work only when you have permission.

Speak up and ask for help

If AI content worries or upsets you, stop using it and tell a teacher, parent or trusted adult. Tell them about wrong or unfair answers too. You can ask an adult about learning without AI.
